The effect of ademetionine on patients with drug-induced cholestatic hepatitis

Objective To investigate the effect of ademetionine on patients with cholestatic hepatitis induced by drugs.Methods 88 patients with drug induced cholestatic hepatitis were randomly divided into control group (n =42) and treatment group (n=46) .The liver protectant therapy combined with ademetionine 1000 mg in 5% glucose solution of 250 ml were given intravenously per day in treatment group for 4 weeks.The control group received liver protectant therapy only.Results The combined treatment was more effective in the treatment group than the control group after 2 weeks of treatment (P < 0.05) .At the 4th week of treatment there was no significance difference between the two groups (P > 0.05) .However, the recovery rate difference was statistically significant between the two groups (P < 0.05) .Conclusion Ademetionine is effective and safe, in the treatment of patients with drug-induced cholestatic hepatitis, in promoting the liver metabolism and repairing the hepatic cell.
