Objective To study the relationship between serum antinuclear antibody (ANA) , liver function tests and HBVDNA during the different course of hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection.Methods 35 HBV carriers, 192 chronic hepatitis B (CHB) and 35 post-hepatitis B cirrhosis patients were included in the study.The ANA, liver function tests, and HBVDNA were measured.Results ANA was gradually increased in HBV carriers, chronic hepatitis B and cirrhosis patients.From 192 CHB patients, 29 (15.1%) were ANA positive.The levels of ALT, TB, ALB and HBVDNA were significantly higher in ANA positives than ANA negative patients (P<0.05) .Conclusion The serum level of ANA is correlated with disease course, HBVDNA replication and the degree of liver damage.
