Objective To explore the value of ultrasound examination in the diagnosis of pericholecystic abscess. Methods Sixty-three patients with clinically proved pericholecystic abscess were undergone color Doppler ultrasound examination. The changes in size, shape, scope of pericholecystic abscess, and the relationship between abscess and adjacent organs were assessed. Results Surgery was performed for 45 patients.Cystic tissue adhesion was seen during the surgery. There was a 100% (34 /34) similarity between the findings of the ultrasound and surgery in diagnosing pericholecystic abscess.Furthermore, the similarity between ultrasound and surgery in diagnosing peribilary and inflammatory adhesion was 82.35% (28/34) .Conclusion Ultrasound examination has important diagnostic value in pericholecystic abscess.
